First Make-a-thon
Johanssen Obanda joined us from Kenya to discuss the solar still project for the purification of water from Lake Turkana. Tragically the Turkana region of Northern Kenya can simultaneously suffer from drought and flooding. Natural sources of fluoride make the water unsafe to rely on. The group made great progress by switching the design from using building materials to using local mud and thatch building techniques. The will eliminate >90% of the shipping weight and hopefully be more familiar to the local population.
The group also made progress on the volleyball launcher for the disabled children at WISD. It became clear that we needed to understand the need better and the group agreed that reaching out to WISD was the next step
